Setting Modem for Gprs Mobile Internet Connection

A. General Setting
Modem Installation
Step 1
Start – Control Panel > Phone and Modem Options > Tab Modems > Choose modem of your handset (GSM mobile phone) > Properties > Tab Driver > Update Driver... > Choose Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) > Next > Choose Don’t search. I will choose the driver to install > Next > Have Disk... > Browse... > Find folder driver modem of your mobile phone > Open > OK > Next-next and next
Step 2
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Phone and Modem Options > Choose your modem > Click Properties > Choose tab Advanced > At Extra initialization commands, enter code: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","Mygprs" > OK
Connection Installation
Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > New Connection Wizard > Next > Connect to the Internet > Next > Set up my connection manually > Next > Connect using a dial up modem > Next > Choose your modem > Next > Type 'Mygprs' > Next > Type *99***1# > Next > Type in box Username : edufresh > Type in box Password : edufresh> Type in box Confirm : edufresh > Next > Finish
Optimizing Connection

Click right at Mygprs > Properties > Enter tab Security > Check “Advanced (Custom Setting) > Click “Settings” > Check at “Allow these protocol” > Just check at “Unencrypted Password (PAP) > All of others are uncheck > OK

Position of Layer is standby. Press Menu > Choose Web Access, > Select > Choose Web Sessions > Select > Choose New Entry > Select > Make complete all parameter those are: > Name : Mygprs > Homepage : http://www.google.co.id (any kind of website address) > GPRS APN : Mygprs > User Name : edufresh@mygprs > Password : edufresh > (don't change or fill other parameter) > Press Done, after complete > Choose Mygprs > Press Menu > Choose Set Default > Select > Press Back for back to layer of standby.

C. Setting Sony Ericsson K510
Choose Menu > Setting > Connectivity > Data Comm. > Data Accounts > New Account > Account Type : GPRS Data > Name : Mygprs > APN : Mygprs > User Name : edufresh@mygprs > Password : edufresh > Choose Save > Next step is setting of internet profile > Choose Menu > Setting > Connectivity > Internet Settings > Internet Profiles > New Profiles > Name : Mygprs > Connect Using : Choose Mygprs > To browsing please choose Menu > Internet Services > More > Go To > Enter Address > New Address Type website address, such as http://www.google.co.id, then choose Enter. If still fail to open web address, Please choose Menu > Setting > Connectivity > Data Comm. > Data Accounts > Mygprs (or your connection name), choose Edit > Authentication > Just make active at PAP, then save.

D. Setting Nokia 6600
Choose Menu > Services > Option > Settings > Default Acces Point > Options > New Access point > Use default settings > SETTING PARAMETER GPRS > Then change every parameter of GPRS with detail as follows: Connection name : Mygprs > Data bearer : GPRS > Access point name : Mygprs > User name : edufresh@mygprs > Prompt Password : No > Password : edufresh > Authentication : Normal > Homepage : www.google.co.id > Connection Security : off > Session mode – permanent.

E. Setting Nokia 6020
Sample installation of modem dan connection setting use mobile phone Nokia 6020 as a modem and use operation system of Windows XP SP2. Connect your gsm mobile phone or your PCMCIA/USB gprs modem to computer, could be via usb cable data, infra red or bluetooth (the connection is via usb cable data) > Install driver of modem from CD of your mobile phone or gprs modem, if you don't have it, you can download at website of manufacturer or search di at google > To make sure driver of your handphone or gsm modem is completely installed in your computer, click right icon of My Computer", choose properties > Then will be showed window of System Properties > Choose tab Hardware, click device manager. Make sure your modem is installed > Then right click at "Nokia 6020 Modem" > will be showed Modem Properties. > To make sure that modem is perfectly installed , click query Modem. > then process to checking that modem is already installed will be starting > After that click OK, until all windows are is closed. Next enter to desktop. > Click 2x My Network Places. > Click View network connections. > Then choose Create a new connection > New connection Wizard. > Choose next. > Choose Connect to the Internet, click next. > Choose Set up my connection manually, click next. > Choose Connect using a dial up-modem. then click next > Choose your modem that was installed, click next. > Fill ISP Name with Mygprs, then click next. > Fill Phone number with *99***1#, then click next > Fill username with : edufresh@mygprs, Password and Confirm password with : edufresh, then click next. > Marking at Add Box a shortcut to this connection to my desktop, then click Finish. > To start of connection, click Dial. If your computer is connected, use to browsing, chatting, etc as your need. To close connection, click right icon 2x at system tray, than click disconnect. To start connection from beginning, click icon Mygprs at desktop 2x until connected. If you have Nokia/Sony Ericsson/Motorola/Samsung/etc mobile phone, easier if you use PC suite. If don't have software of Nokia PC suite please down load here (file is very big about 22MB), for Sony Ericsson/Motorola/Samsung/etc please download here, or better come to Nokia/Sony Ericsson/Motorola/Samsung/etc customer service to copy the PC Suite software. Install Nokia PC suite and driver cable data, after that you just need to fill APN, username, and password to setting at your computer anda, for setting at mobile phone see above (standard). It's very important to fill APN (access point name): Mygprs, Username: edufresh@mygprs, password: edufresh at mobile phone and computer.

F. Setting Data Card 3G PCMCIA/USB atau PDA Phone
Click 'Setting" > click 'network connection setting' > fill APN, username, password, phone number, and choose ‘authentication protocolnya with 'PAP’ not CHAP. Some gsm modem PCMCIA/USB have ‘default setting’ at authentication protocol or model authentication is CHAP, if your modem like this you must change to PAP. Every brand of gsm modem has diffrent procedure to change authentication. If you have PDA Phone, just change authentication at menu of ‘GPRS Setting’.
